Not a pipe dream
St John’s musical tradition is equalled by few parishes in the country. Music attracts many people to our church. Without it St John’s would not be the same.
Our organ which was built in 1906 by Garrard and extensively rebuilt on a budget basis in 1969 is deteriorating fast. It is no longer up to the demands placed on a busy church. Organ experts give it a few years of use. The instrument has become increasingly unreliable.
That’s why we are committed to the tough task of raising £400,000 for an organ that will live up to the rich heritage of musical excellence. This sum should provide us with a quality instrument which will last into the 22nd century.
The way forward
